Due to our organization structure, Etosha Consult International is more flexible than most internationally operating consulting companies. That is also why Etosha Consult affiliates are invited to join projects of larger firms. Our commitment to Sustainable Development makes sure that we do a few things different and that innovations have a natural place in Etosha Consult’s performance. For example: When being assigned to prepare a Feasibility Study on Environment Protection of Lake Prespa, Republic of Macedonia, Manfred W. Buch facilitated six workshops to ensure public awareness and participation in the planning process. For the first time in KfW’s history this approach was successfully introduced.
Etosha Consult International guides all necessary steps of a strategic approach towards sustainable development, which implies NEW WAYS of THINKING and WORKING:
- Move from developing and implementing fixed plans, ideas and solutions towards operating an adaptive system that can continuously improve governance to promote coherence between responses to different challenges.
- Move from a view that it is the state alone which is responsible for development towards one that sees responsibility with society as a whole.
- Move from centralised and controlled decision-making towards sharing results and opportunities, transparent negotiation, co-operation and concerted action.
- Move from a focus on outputs (e.g. number of projects and laws) towards a focus on outcomes (e.g. impacts of projects and legal changes).
- Move from sectoral towards integrated planning.
- Move from a dependence on external assistance towards domestically-driven and financed development.
- Move towards a process which can accommodate monitoring, learning and improvement.
